Conversation First Method
Spanish is meant to be spoken.
A different way to learn Spanish — where conversation comes first, grammar has a purpose, and every lesson starts with you.
Private Spanish conversation lessons online designed to help you speak more naturally, feel more confident and use Spanish in real life.
What if learning Spanish started with speaking?
I believe that Spanish is not something you simply study. It is something you use.
That’s why conversation is at the heart of my lessons. Instead of following a rigid programme, we start from where you are and work with the Spanish you actually need.
Sometimes that means correcting a grammatical structure. Sometimes it means finding the right word. Sometimes it means having a conversation about something that matters to you.
There is no single path to learning a language. Your Spanish should be as individual as you are.
You speak. I listen. We work on your Spanish. You keep talking.
This is the foundation of my method.
You don’t need to wait until your Spanish is perfect to start speaking.
Speaking is part of how you learn.
As you talk, I listen for the things that can help you improve — the grammar you need to understand, the vocabulary that is missing, the pronunciation that can be clearer or the structures that would make your Spanish sound more natural.
Then we work on them without taking you out of the conversation.
The goal isn’t simply to know more Spanish.
It’s to be able to use it.
Make mistakes. Keep talking.
Making mistakes is part of learning a language.
You don’t need to have the perfect sentence in your head before you open your mouth.
In my lessons, mistakes are not something to be embarrassed about.
They show us where there is something to learn.
I’ll correct you, explain why something works or doesn’t, and help you find a more natural way to express yourself — while keeping the conversation moving.
Because the more you speak, the more opportunities you have to learn.
You don’t need perfect Spanish. You just need to be willing to speak.
What we work on
Everything you need to express yourself.
Conversation may be the starting point, but it doesn’t mean we ignore the rest. Your Spanish develops naturally through what you are trying to communicate.
Grammar
We work on grammar when it helps you understand or express something more clearly.
Vocabulary
You learn words and expressions within a context, so they are easier to understand, remember and actually use.
Pronunciation
We work on sounds, rhythm and pronunciation to help your Spanish feel more natural.
Correction & feedback
I listen carefully and give you personalised corrections and explanations that you can apply in future conversations.
Real-life Spanish
We talk about situations, topics and experiences that are relevant to your life — not just exercises from a textbook.
Confidence
Little by little, you become more comfortable speaking without overthinking every sentence.
Grammar shouldn't stop the conversation.
There is a time to study grammar. There is a time to ask questions. There is a time to practise.
But I don’t believe you need to spend an entire lesson memorising rules before you can use them.
Grammar becomes much more meaningful when you can connect it to something you actually want to say.
If you’re telling me about your weekend and we discover that you’re struggling with the past tense, that’s what we work on.
If you’re trying to explain something and can’t find the right expression, we find it together.
Your questions, your mistakes and your conversations become part of the lesson.
Learn Spanish in the context of your life.
A language makes sense when you can connect it to something real.
That’s why our conversations can take us anywhere — your work, your family, travel, relationships, culture, your interests, life in Spain or simply something you’ve been thinking about that day.
You bring your world into the lesson. I help you express it in Spanish.
This is what makes one-to-one learning so powerful: the lesson doesn’t have to fit everyone.
It fits you.
Hi, I’m Anabel!
Behind the method, there's a teacher who loves language.
When I was little, I loved reading, and by the age of ten, I already knew I enjoyed teaching. I fell in love with letters and words. To me, they were something mysterious and fascinating.
I have a degree in Hispanic Studies and specialised training in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (ELE). I’ve been teaching Spanish online for more than 12 years, working with students from different countries, backgrounds and levels.
But what I love most about teaching isn’t simply explaining Spanish. It’s being part of someone’s journey with the language.
I love seeing a student become more confident, understand something that once seemed difficult, and eventually realise that they are speaking Spanish without thinking about every word. Ready to find your voice in Spanish?
Ready to speak Spanish with confidence?
Tell me a little about your Spanish, what you would like to improve and what you’re hoping to achieve.
I’ll help you find the best way to move forward.
